Day 5 part 2 - patience rewarded

Game drive this morning started slow - warthog, vervet monkeys and a brief glimpse of some baboon.

Then we spent a good amount of time tracking leopard without success.

We also spotted the
Safari Live
vehicle who were also not having much luck.  They told us they were filming birds.  As home viewers, we always knew the bird and hippo days were only shown when they just weren’t having any luck with the bigger game !  It was nice to see their setup, and the cameraman who you usually only glimpse a thumbs up on camera.

First our bush coffee break

Then, back to our leopard stalking.  Lots of bouncy and speedy driving when a sighting was finally called in, and then a race to find her.  It was a near miss, as this leopard wasn’t lying around lazily like a lion, but instead was on the move.  But we found her in the end.  She is not a known leopard, but there appears to be some availability in terms of territory.  The rangers are hoping she “moves in” and establishes this area as her own.  We have a short video of her on the move.

Back for breakfast and a walk back to our room, and we spotted some of our own easier wildlife

That last one reminds me of home in Mendon - if there is one thing we can spot effectively it’s deer.
.
We also spent some time with the plants, including this sausage tree.
